The Green Mountain in Libya is a unique natural phenomenon in the northeast of the African continent, distinguished from its natural surroundings by its solitary rise between the vast African desert and the Mediterranean Sea basin along the coastal region stretching from the mountains of Tunisia in the west to the mountains of Palestine in the east. With its elevation of 881 meters and its direct view to the north over the Mediterranean Sea for a length of over 200 kilometers, and to the south over the Sahara Desert, it creates a semi-humid environment on its northern slopes facing the moist northwesterly sea winds in winter, contrasting with a semi-arid and arid environment on its southern slopes overlooking the Sahara Desert.
