The aims of this study are to identify the level of local citizens’ demand for domestic tourism in the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar region in Libya during the global spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. The primary data was collected by using a questionnaire designed by the researchers based on previous studies and distributed to the participants in some hotels and resorts in Al Jabal Al Akhdar region in northeastern Libya.
The qualitative research and the descriptive approach were followed to achieve the aims of the study, and questionnaires were distributed to Front office staff at the tourism facilities and to the citizens, who are the guests (the local tourists) in these tourism facilities (hotels and resorts). For data analysis, the SPSS statistical analysis program was used.
The results found that there is a demand by the local citizens (the local tourists) on domestic tourism in Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar region in the east of Libya due to the global spread of COVID19.
