The morphometric and hydrological characteristics of drainage basins are the most important facilities of the Geomorphological analysis, especially in the arid and semi-arid region which are suffering from the absence of hydrometric measuring stations, so that it represents a database the can be used to determine the degree of the risk of the floods at these basins, so this study provides a database for some basins at the south of Al-Gabal Al-Akhdar can be consulted when doing some engineering projects such as dam construction. In this way, the researchers relied on the descriptive and analytical method to describe the drainage basins and this hydrographic networks, The study also relied on the quantitative method in measuring the basins dimensions and the morphometric and hydrological characteristics taken from the topographic maps with respect to scale (1;50000) and then calculate the water balance of basins and determine the degree of the risk. The study reached several results, including that the studied basins tend to elongate in form and reduce the values of the terrain also all of these are considered to be in the category of the coarse drainage density of less than 5km/km2. The net runoff value of the basins were positive, indicating that a high risk in the case of happening. Results and extractions The main results and extractions of the study are the following. The study reached several results, including that the studied basins tend to be elongated in shape and have low edifice ratio values. All basins are considered to fall within the category of coarse drainage density that is less than 5 km/km2. The value of net surface runoff in the basins was positive, which indicates a high Its risk rate in the event of floods.
