This study focuses on the phonetic level in Classical Arabic and aims to explore the differences between the short vowel "fatha" and the long vowel "alif with maddah" and other long vowels. The study highlights that there is no significant difference in pronunciation between these vowels, except for the quantity and the timing of the exhaled air and the time required for articulation. Based on these surprising findings, some grammar and morphology rules, such as modifying punctuation marks and structure, need to be reconsidered. The descriptive-analytical approach was applied in this study, and it was divided into three chapters that addressed the long vowels in Surah Ibrahim, the segmental structure of linguistic units containing the long vowel, as well as the long vowels, grammatical positions, and punctuation marks. This research represents an important step towards a deeper understanding of the phonetic level in Classical Arabic and its application to grammar and morphology. It can serve as a valuable reference for scholars and researchers in this field.
