This research aims to study the city of Derna in the writings of the French and the English (1706-1811 AD), This is achieved by identifying the geographical and civilizational characteristics that made Derna a destination for European travelers, as well as identifying the first French exploratory voyages to the city, and then identifying the most important of which is without the captain of the English fleet, (Edward Blaquiere) about the city. The research has concluded several results, perhaps the most important of which is the confirmation of the French start in discovering the details of the city of Derna for the Europeans through the journey of the French (Claude Le Maire) in 1706 AD.
