Gender roles refer to the behavior learned by a person as appropriate to their gender and more characteristic of one sex than the other. To measure the development of gender role, 121 preschoolers, aged four to six, were selected. Using a gender role scale, developed by Mohammed (1997), the study revealed a high degree of gender role orientation among the sample. In addition, the study revealed no relationship between child age and degree of gender role orientation. Also, there were no correlation between number of sibling and degree of gender role orientation. Finally, there were no differences between males and females in the dimensions of gender roles as measured by the scale in the study.
