Abstract

A unique phenomenon was arisen by the Poets of Andalusia, which is known as (local character) or (Andalusian) and it means: to what extent which the poet is influenced by the spirit of the territory, his social, cultural and environmental background in a way that the reader can judge this poet that his childhood in belongs to certain region. This study is to shed light on one of the famous poets of Andalusia. Therefore, this study investigated the poetry of Ibn Darraj Alkstali and how he was influenced by the nature of the territory and to highlight this phenomenon further. This study has specific title (local character in the poetry of Ibn Darraj Alkstali. The importance of this study is to highlight a phenomenon that characterized some of the poets of Andalusia and also examine show their bonds to their territory, their nostalgia for this region and focusing on this phenomenon through how they tried to reply to those who accused the poets of Andalusia of imitation and the lack of independence from the oriental poetry. This study was based on the historical approach by monitoring this phenomenon in the poetry of Ibn Darraj over the years of his life. This study suggested that, the poet was influenced by the political conditions in Andalusia, which is illustrated by mentioning of the Spanish princes, leaders, and mentioned the cities and places where battles between Muslims and their enemies were. Also the poet was influenced by the environment of Andalusia, where represented in the abundance of his poetry to nature and its presence in all its poetic purposes. An addition his poet was influenced by the culture of the territory, his traditions, his language, and his civilized Renaissance. This significantly appears in many lyrics of his poetry.
