Livelihood of the Libyan Arab Society 1911-1939 AD

Abstract

Studying the economic history of any nation constitutes a vital and significant aspect of historical expertise, primarily for understanding many of its outcomes and heritage. Unfortunately, its importance has not received the attention it deserves due to some historians' focus on political and military aspects in their writings. However, this does not negate the existence of multiple references, including the economic aspect. This modest attempt aims to contribute something to the Arabic library by addressing the livelihood of the Libyan society from the year 1911 AD to 1939 AD. The purpose of this study is to urge generations to look back at the past of this society and the sincere efforts made by our ancestors, who faced challenges with determination and resolve, including colonial oppression and the harshness of nature. Through these efforts, they managed to maintain their homeland through unity, mutual support, and patriotism. They relied on agricultural and pastoral activities, which represented their main livelihoods and primary sources of sustenance, along with some individual-based industries that saw little development until 1935 AD.
