Abstract

The contemplator of Arabic poetry finds that the poet Mu-hammad Mustafa Sofia is one of the contemporary Arab poets; for he played a major role in promoting Arabic literature in general، and Libyan literature in particular; for he was able to produce poetry that was distinguished by the quality of meanings, and ease of terminolo-gy, and worthy of study which made me want to study his poetry so I chose the title of research: (Forms of Command and their Indications in Diwan Al-Bayan by Poet Muhammad Mustafa Sofia); in order to identify the forms of command used and their various indications، and in this study I used the analytical method based on analyzing the verses in a precise analysis، to reach the meanings intended by the poet, and the study concluded with results including: the poet agreed with the majority of grammarians in his use of command forms in all their types, and that he used the forms of command for different in-dicative purposes according to the context in which they occurred, so the form came sometimes for praise, admiration and sometimes for rebuke، another for supplication, and other emotional indications. Thus, it becomes clear to me that the poet used language that agrees with most grammarians and rhetoric and was keen to choose appropriate terminology, exploring brevity while avoiding strange and exotic words.
