This study examines the French-Sanusi relations during the stages of exploration and anticipation (1840-1902), focusing on the historical and political aspects of that period. The study revolves around the French and British influence in exploring the Sanusi movement and studying its relationship with the French occupation of Algeria. The study sheds light on French and British reports and correspondences that addressed the Sanusi movement and its leaders, analyzing the role of rumors and economic interests in fueling the conflict between the French and the Sanusi in Central Africa. The research aims to highlight the importance of the exploration and anticipation period for the French-Sanusi relations, clarifying the Sanusi position towards the Algerian resistance and the impact of foreign intervention on the Sanusi movement. The study relies on historical sources and a multidimensional analysis to provide accurate documentation and interpretation of the events and developments in this significant period of French-Sanusi relations.
