This study aims to clarify the reality of the human sciences, by presenting the functions it must perform, and the obstacles that prevent it from performing its functions, through a descriptive historical approach that traces its origin, Arab and Western development, and methodology. A comparison between what the Arabs and the West have reached, and an analytical approach to find out the most important differences between the Arab and Western cases, as the vast difference between the conditions of emergence and the stages of development between the two cases becomes clear. Which is mainly due to the large and qualitative difference in the problems and how they present and try to solve them, because the problems of Western thought are of a scientific nature, while the reality of the human sciences in the Arab world is dominated by social, political and religious problems?
