This research examines the relationship between locus of control and depression among first-year students in the Special Education Department at Omar Al-Mukhtar University's Faculty of Education in Al-Bayda. The study investigates the prevalence of depression among students and explores the impact of locus of control on their mental well-being. The research utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach, specifically focusing on Rotter's Expectancy-Value Theory. Data collection involves surveys and interviews with participants. The findings contribute to the understanding of the psychological factors associated with depression among college students
