Abstract: This research aims to approach terminology from a cognitive perspective It will be divided into two main sections: theoretical and applied. In the theoretical part, we traced the transformation of the term from a linguistic unit to a specialized knowledge unit. In the applied part, the term "character" in literary and narrative dictionaries was an example of this. We concluded that viewing a term as a knowledge unit does not negate any definition of the term, regardless of how its meaning varies with the contexts in which it appears or how its meaning has evolved over time. We concluded that a cognitive approach to terminology is a way to solve the problem of multiple concepts and multiple terms, especially if this approach is applied computationally.
