Abstract

This research examines the interpretation and modern Arab hermeneutics of Ibn Rushd (Averroes). It explores the role of Ibn Rushd's texts and his dual discourse in the modern Arab era. The study reviews the controversy surrounding his texts in the medieval Latin period, along with the positions of both supporters and opponents. Khaled Saad Al-Alam's interpretations of the views of Sheikh Muhammad Abdu and Dr. Mahmoud Qasim are highlighted as examples of the modern approach to understanding Ibn Rushd's philosophy and ideas. The research raises the question of whether Ibn Rushd's original texts truly represent his philosophy and ideas, or if his commentaries on Aristotle's works better express his thought. Various conflicting opinions are discussed, making this issue an ongoing subject of debate and discussion to this day.
