Abstract

The traditional costumes of the population in any society are an important aspect of their social and artistic life and part of their national heritage. The national costumes in the state of Tripoli and Mutsrafieh Benghazi during the second Ottoman period were characterized by its special character which is related to the natural and social environment. The woolen, cotton and silk textiles industry, leather industries of all kinds, shoes, belts, wallets, sheath of weapons, as well as gold and silver jewelry were among the most important traditional industrious in the second Ottoman era. The national costumes during the Ottoman period have undergone stages of development and mixing between the local costumes and external influences. The stiles and types of men's and women's clothing came as a result of the Ottoman influence on social life, and the most important types of these Kate, Kurdiyeh, Alzubon, Terabush.
