Abstract

This study offers a critical analysis of the motivations used by the Spanish government in the late Middle Ages as justification for their conquest of al-Maghreb and North Africa. This study emphasizes the political, theological, and economic arguments derived from the Spanish point of view, with the purpose of elucidating the strategies used by the colonial governments to justify their armed actions in the region at the time.
