Geomorphological Processes and Their Features in the Wadi Derna Basin

This research presents an analytical study of the geomorphological changes that occurred in the course of Wadi Derna following the catastrophic floods that struck the city in September 2023, caused by the collapse of the Bou Mansour and Al-Bilad dams during Cyclone “Daniel.” This event led to profound alterations in the topographic and hydrological characteristics of the basin, which were reflected in the shape, slope, and depth of the valley, as well as in extensive impacts on infrastructure and the urban environment. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, supported by an examination of geomorphological processes and their manifestations within the basin, ultimately leading to a set of significant findings and recommendations.
