Libyan Sea god (or Libyan Poseidon)

This research is trying to reveal the personality of the Libyan sea god who appeared in the Greek sources under name of “Poseidon”, or in Latin under “Neptune”, In same time is trying to reveal his characteristics, and locating the areas of his worship in Libya, and find out how the influences of his worship moved to Greece and its islands. And for credible results, We depended on the literary sources, and even archaeological sources, despite their scarcity, side by side with Interest to the results of the other researchers who concerning in same subject. This study concluded with a number of results, including that the Libyans actually worshiped a god similar to Poseidon and Neptune, but he was associated with sweet water and its sources more than with the sea, and that is why he specialized in fertilization and germination of the earth, and he too had healing powers through water springs. Through this study, may we can say that the doctrine of this god, or some of its influences, has transferred to Greece by personalities of Libyan origins.
