Abstract

This research aims to determine the trends of annual rainfall change, and identifying the periods of drought and humidity in North-eastern part of Libya, during the period (1961 - 2010). To achieve this goal; the study relied on the general trend of rainfall and the triple moving averages. The results showed that the trends of annual rainfall rates during the period of the study tended to decrease in Tobruq, Shahat and Benina stations, while it had increased in Derna and Ajdabiya. This indicates to decrease of the rainfall in most parts of the study area with variation of the change amount. The analysis of the triple moving averages showed that, there is a random fluctuation in the annual rainfall rate.
