This study aims to highlight the characteristics of the local climate in the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar region and examine its impact on urban patterns and human behavior. It is based on the close relationship between climate and urban planning, particularly in relation to human comfort, settlement choices, and daily activities. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, supported by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing techniques, using Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 satellite imagery to classify land cover and land-use patterns, monitor changes in vegetation cover, and measure land surface temperature. The findings reveal considerable variation in the spatial utilization of the region’s resources. Open and vacant land accounts for approximately 72% of the area, while residential areas represent only 3%. This spatial imbalance reflects shortcomings in urban planning, resulting in concentrated urban development in limited locations alongside extensive underutilized areas. Combined with the decline in vegetation cover, these patterns indicate an imbalance in the environmental–urban system and highlight the need for more climate-responsive and sustainable urban planning in the region.
