Abstract

In a biological survey of date palm insects during 1982-1984 and subsequent study conducted during 19861989 we were able to record 15 insect species for the first time in LIBYA. These species, mostly collected from the southern region, are : Bembex olivata, Euchalcidia pseudonebiolosa, Iridephaga lichensteini, Pediobius bruchicida, Megachile patellimana, Scolia hortorum, Micromeirella aureda, Pachycrepoides vindemmiae (Prondani) Cotonaaoua sp. Tabanus sufis, Rhyncomia desertica, Scatophaga merduria, Pachygastrina sp., Sitona callosus, and Bulaca lichatschavii.
