Abstract

This research focuses on the ports between Ptolemais and Apollonia along the eastern coast of Cyrenaica. The study examines the geographical and historical significance of these ports and their role as excellent boat harbors. The author analyzes classical sources and archaeological evidence to shed light on the settlements and villages that existed in this region. The research also explores the strategic importance of the site known as Kainopolis or Ma'atan Al-Aqla, located east of Ptolemais. The investigation includes satellite imagery and surveys, revealing ancient caves, stone tools, cylindrical wells, tombs, and classical structures. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the coastal region between Ptolemais and Apollonia and highlight the need for further research in this area
