Abstract

The development of financial engineering tools has sparked widespread controversy, among the financial community about the feasibility of these tools and the risks involved in their use, especially in light of many studies and experiments indicating that despite their enormous advantages in opening investment opportunities, funding sources and using them as effective tools for hedging and avoiding risks, But it's wrong use or the lack of regulatory and supervisory frameworks creates great risks, not only for dealers. But, also for the financial and economic sector in general, as they were a major cause in financial crises to the world with widespread of impact, especially in the global financial crisis that occurred starting in 2008. This paper aims to address the most important tools of financial engineering in terms of their advantages and risks of use. and how their wrong use was a major cause of the global financial crisis, and what are the most important treatments that occurred after the occurrence of the global financial crisis.
